I have several Microsoft Certifications. As I had been out of the industry for
a few years, I thought that becoming Microsoft Certified could help demonstrate
my proficiency to prospective employers. My target areas were ASP.NET and Windows
Forms using C#, and also SQL Server 2005.
I first started with this technology in 2006, when I downloaded a demonstration
copy of Visual Studio 2005, and spent some time learning C#, then moved to working
with developing Windows Forms applications. In early 2007, I began working with
ASP.NET, and as the year progressed SQL Server 2005. As I had been working full
time, this was done during in my spare time (nights and weekends) whenever possible.
In September of 2007, I decided to quit my former position such that I could dedicate
full time (40+ hours a week) to improving my skills, as well as completing the certification
testing.
To summarize here, the certifications I have received are as follows:
- Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (which consists of:)
- Technology Specialist - Web Development (ASP.NET) - C#
- Technology Specialist - Windows Client Development - C#
- Microsoft Certified Database Developer - SQL Server 2005
